Good design changes people. Or as Winston Churchill puts it, “We make our buildings and forever after, they make us.”

From an early age, my grandmother began to ask questions: “How does this drawing make you feel?” “What would you do differently in this space?” “Do you see the way the light is diffused here?” Questions like these sparked a genuine interest in what makes a place come alive.

My hope is to design places and objects—houses, additions, interior spaces, small commercial spaces, everyday objects—and to see them built with craft and quality. For the past thirty years, my work has been primarily larger in scale (commercial buildings, museums, churches, performing arts centers, etc.). I’m now at a point in my career where I’d like to transition towards working on select projects at a different scale.

I gravitate towards seeking simplicity, materiality, beauty, economy, craft, grace.
